At high blood pressure (hypertension), it is possible to have an abnormally high number of pulses per minute (or pulses per second). A condition known as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) occurs when blood arteries in the lungs become obstructed, blocked, or damaged, resulting in pulmonary hypertension.
